Can We just Agree that Chris Brown is a Dirt Bag and Move On?

I know this picture isn't really Adele
yelling at Chris Brown, but I'll pretend
it is.
There are many people who are famous and their fame baffles me. Here's a short version of a long list:

  • All of the Real Housewives--yes, ALL of them
  • Pamela Anderson
  • All Kardashians
  • Paris Hilton
  • Nearly all reality TV stars
And also on the list is Chris Brown. The difference between him and the above is that Chris Brown actually has some talent. But where does it say that a modicum of talent can propel you to be above the law, decency or the threshold of asshole-ness? No where.

Aside from the beating of Rhiana, which she has clearly gotten over, there are the multiple run-ins with others that end in fisticuffs (which is an old ass word that I love to throw in). Some are reported and more public because they happen with other celebrities (Frank Ocean) and others just get a line in Brown's long list of offenses.

The absolute point of no return for me, which honestly shouldn't have surprised me but somehow did, was when his community service was called into question because some of the documentation was sketchy. So sketchy that the police chief involved resigned.  Really? You can't do the community service you were ALLOWED to do because you DEALED down from a more serious offense?!?

Can we all just band together, declare him a dirt bag and then refuse to listen to, buy, or support his music? I wish this above world peace because I honestly believe this has a shot in hell of happening.

You Can't Pick When You're Famous

I say this a lot and Chef and I have debated this, but my feeling is this: You can't pick when you're famous and when you're not. It's like being pregnant: there are stages of it, but when you are, you are (I am neither famous nor pregnant by the way). You can't pick to NOT be pregnant because you want to go on a sushi bender nor can you NOT be famous because you want to have your own little hissy fits.

Case in point: Gisele you cannot speak out to make breastfeeding for six months a LAW and use your fame to try and lobby for it or say really obnoxiously superior stuff about your kid BUT not want attention when you respond to a heckle about your husband's Super Bowl loss. Have you never been to a football game? Let me rephrase that: have you ever been to a football game and NOT sat in a luxury box? The whole thing is one big heckle. Toughen up. Or at least don't say anything back because you ARE famous. Someone WILL record it and make you look even more like an idiot. (For the record, had Abby Manning made some comment about Peyton NOT being in the building that had been recorded, I think it would've been big time news too. Just sayin'.)

On another note, it's not your place to say anything, no matter what kind of fame you have. Blaming co-workers for something is lame in itself, but blaming your HUSBAND's co-workers is even more lame. I actually have had one instance in my career when a colleague's wife called me up to bitch me out. It was the worst and made life awkward between me and the colleague forever. Partly because I was pissed at him for letting her call and partly because he was pissed at me for yelling at his wife. Not a good idea in ANY situation.

And lastly, to all those guys (and a few girls) out there who have said "She's Gisele. She can say whatever she wants." Or "Tom wins because he gets to go home to that." I have to say this: Being hot does not give someone carte blanche to say stupid stuff and act inappropriately. Stop reinforcing this idea.

C'mon, People. Stop Posting Pictures of Your Genitals

Is it egomania? Is it promiscuity? Or is it just plain stupidity? I'm not sure why famous people think it's a good idea to take pictures of their bodies or junk and send them to people they don't really know.

Did the world really need to see Brett Favre's junk? No. Don't text it to a girl you barely know.

Did I really need to see Anthony Weiner's weiner or chest? Nope and neither did the chick he sent it to.

I'm continually baffled about why people who are famous send illicit pictures of themselves to strangers. It's generally not a good idea for ANYBODY, especially someone who is say, in the political arena or gets media attention. Because for all the good things the media attention can bring to your life (and it does bring good things to most so don't let them fool you with this "I never asked for this" crap), it can also take you down.

Here's a good rule of thumb for all celebrities, politicians and others:

If you get bothered in bathrooms for autographs or can get good tables at nice restaurants just for being you, don't send any photos of any bathing suit parts or otherwise embarrassingly skimpy areas out via twitter, facebook, text or other social media outlet.
